Foot and Ankle Surgery TRAINING with Medartis
Teaching is forever a rewarding experience; it is always an honour to be able to impart knowledge and pay back to making and training surgeons for our future.
Today, Medartis sponsored our registrar's teaching with a cadaver lab to teach our up-and-coming orthopaedic surgeons about approaches and fixation of various foot and ankle disorders.
I was lucky to be part of the Faculty with such a wealth of experience and skill.
BIG FOOT takes over Sydney International Foot and ankle surgeons descend on Sydney for the Paragon Big Foot Conference. Many thanks to Paragon for the invitation to present on the latest foot and ankle techniques. With many international and national surgeons in attendance, it was an incredible to hear the topics and updates from surgeons all around the world. I appreciate the opportunity to be invited to give three presentations on foot and ankle replacements, approaches to the posterior malleolus and repair of the deltoid ligament in trauma. It was a fantastic meeting, great talks and ideas exchanged.
SPECIAL GUESTS - A DAY IN THEATRE FOR MY NON-SURGICAL SUPPORT TEAM Was great to have "special guests", my own long suffering, hard working secretary @lizzie_hunter01 and podiatrist Helen from @inspire__podiatry who has helped me with my countless post op and foot and ankle patients all these years. They came to theatre to get a glimpse of how surgeries/operating theatres function, so hopefully they can understand, empathise and work better with our patients pre and post op. Helen just wanted to see a total ankle replacement 🤪.
Don't think I'll ever be a movie star, but it was fun to be under the cameras again to help make some videos on various arthroscopic, toe fusions and flat feet reconstruction procedures.

Dr Gerald Yeo has assisted a Japanese surgeon as part of his fellowship training
It was a pleasure to head up to Hervey Bay to help my friend and colleague, Dr. Navi Bali, with his total ankle replacements.
Our ankle replacements continue to perform well. This particular patient is only eight weeks post-op and is walking with no pain.
Dr Gerald Yeo was kindly invited to talk about his experience in private practice so far.
I was kindly invited by Stryker recently to introduce and teach our new up & coming surgeons on foot and ankle surgical techniques utilising sports medicine equipment for repairs of lateral ligaments, tendon reconstructions and minimally invasive or keyhole surgery.
Like all joint replacements, over time, ankle replacements can fail as well. Recent versions of total ankle replacements did have higher failure rates due to the plastic or bearing surfaces as well as the design of the implants.
